Finance & IT Systems Development Professional.

Mike was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, and graduated with a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Accountancy, from the Auckland University of Technology in 1998. He has a gorgeous young dog called Kumiko, who is a Rough Coat Collie.

He started his career with BDO Auckland Chartered Accountants to the level of Senior Tax Consultant working with high-wealth individuals, before he was headhunted by the Deloitte Auckland office to join their team as a senior tax specialist for large corporates.

Having worked part time with friend and entrepreneur he was a founding member of Orcon Internet in the early days, contracting as their Financial Controller then CFO (Chief Financial Officer).

As well as working with retail companies including About Face, Pure Fiji, and Orange Direct, more recently Mike has been working on contracts with large firms including Atlantis Health, Merck / MSD Animal Health Intelligence, and Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand. The roles have been varied and include Group Financial Controller, Finance Business Partner, Project Manager, Project Consultant, and Data Integrity Lead.

Mike has strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to break down complex financial and IT terms and concepts into clear business language.

Mike provides various services to local New Zealand and international clients mostly in the USA and Australia, including:

• Virtual CFO, Virtual Financial Controller, and Project Management services.

• Xero conversions from large multi-site ERP systems including SAP, Oracle NetSuite, and Sage, as well as from smaller systems such as MYOB, Quickbooks Desktop / QBD, and Quickbooks Online /QBO.

• Setup of Fathom or Spotlight for group reporting and consolidations.

• Setup and training for Cin7 Core (formerly DEAR Systems), and Cin7 Omni complex inventory ERP systems with links into Shopify and Xero etc.

• Change Management and Project Management for SaaS software projects and system changes * SaaS = Software as a Service.

• Business Reporting / Power BI.

• Financial Control, Treasury, and Forex functions.

• Audit Management.

• Development, implementation, and training of financial and business policies and procedures across a range of initiatives and deliverables.

Mike is also formally trained and experienced as Presenter and Actor, for direct to camera (TV, training, Zoom/Teams etc), and previously for television shows and advertisements.
